Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar (1812-1846)
  • Born: 6 January 1812 at Pombhurle in Rajapur Taluka, Ratnagiri
  • Joined the post of the Deputy Secretary of the Bombay Native Education Society
  • He became the teacher of the Prince of Akkalkot state on behalf of the Government. Then he became Assistant Professor in Elphinstone College
  • After that he as the Director of The Teachers Education Class.
  • Started 'Darpan' Newspaper
  • Started 'Digdarshan' Weekly
  • The Government appointed him as the Inspector of the Primary schools in Mumbai presidency
