According to CLSA(Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia) and HSBC(Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation), Patanjali is the fastest growing company in India. It is valued at INR 30 billion(US$450 million) and some predict revenues of INR 5,000 crore(US$740 million) for the year 2015-16Ramdev Baba has stated in his interview with CNN-News18 that the whole profit made from the Patanjali Products goes to charity.

  • History:
Baba Ramdev established the Patanjali Ayurved Limited in 2006 along with Acharya Balkrishna with the objective of establishing the Ayurvedic science. The main ideologies behind the inception of Patanjali Ayurved Limited was mainly based on enhancement of the Swadeshi Products extracted by the scientific knowledge of Ayurveda with the coordination of latest technology with ancient wisdom.

  • Important facts related to Patanjali Ayurved:
  1.  Baba Ramdev does not hold any stake in Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. Acharya Balkrishna is believed to own 92%. The remaining 8% is owned by Sarwan and Sunita Poddar, a Scotland based NRI couple.
  2. Patanjali food park is spread across 100 acres and provides employment to over 6,500 people.
  3. Patanjali has approximately 5,000 franchise stores. Retailers told CLSA that their average gross turnover is Rs 25,000 every day. Profit margins for retailers are 10-20% across product categories. 
  4. The revenue for 2014-15 of Patanjali Ayurved is bigger than Jyothi Laboratories, the maker of Ujaala and Emami.
  5. Patanjali has hired two top advertising agencies McCann and Mudra to prepare the business for the next phase of growth. 
  6. Patanjali has turned Haridwar into an industrial heaven with 28 factories producing almost 800 types of products

Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna growth story was always a lame light but currently it has gained more lame light as according to the various test conducted to check Patanjali Products, they are not meeting the quality standards. A few months back Amla Juice was suspended by the defense canteen due to the impurities in it. Many hero products of Patanjali such as Ghee, Noodles have been under the scanner on the charge sheet of Impurity.
