The Future of Sports is bright in India!!

What is the future of Sports in India? Its quite an important question for an Indian society, which is highly dominated by the male population. Even though we are living amidst the 21st century, still it is seen that there are some orthodox mindsets that are preventing the girls of our society to come forward and contribute to the goodwill of the country.
Sometimes it feels sad to hear that the girl child is abandoned for certain reasons, female infanticide is largely practised in many parts of the country. Various torments are done on the female child after their birth, dowry is also offered in case of their marriages.

After taking all this into consideration, there are still some female athletes in India, who have crossed the hurdles of their lives by representing India in sports Internationally. They have shown their spectacular performances on many occasions. I will highlight some of their heroics from the Rio Olympics 2016.

1. P.V. Sindhu

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian professional badminton player. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal. During her final match she played with such a determination that even after losing the game against fierce competitor Carolina Marin from Spain, she won the hearts of millions of the Indians.

2. Sakshi Malik

Sakshi Malik is an Indian freestyle wrestler. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics and the fourth female Olympic medalist from the country.

3. Dipa Karmakar

Dipa Karmakar is an artistic gymnast who represented India at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She is the first Indian female gymnast ever to compete in the Olympics and the first Indian gymnast to do so in 52 years. She attained 4th position in Women's Vault Gymnastics event of the Rio Olympics 2016 with an overall score of 15.066. Even though she hasn't won any medal, she won hearts of millions of fans from India and across the world.

I am quite sure that after seeing them we get an inspiration that every person in our society can equally contribute for the well-being of our nation, whether male or female. All that matters is the thought process of the individual.

Let the spirit be established in our country where the girl child must be given an equal status like the boy child, educated and given a chance to prove their ability in Sports as well. This will definitely contribute to the bright future for sports in India!!!
